Age: 30
Family Structure: Single parent with two children
Employment Status: Full time employment.
Describe your situation prior to enrolling in FAIM: I had a lot of fear and shame about my finances, being low-income, and credit. I had never pulled a copy of my credit report ( I was too scared and ashamed).
Why did you sign up for FAIM? I was encouraged by a Head Start Family Service Worker/circles coach; plus the free money.
How has FAIM helped you? Take leadership over budgeting, credit restoration, planning ahead for expenses, savings and its importance, information, planning for the future.
Why did you pick Home Purchase/Education? I finished my last class to get my BA and used the remaining amount for home purchase (down payment). I was spending between $200 to $300 per month on gas to commute and now I am building equity and saving time!
What part of FAIM helped you most? It empowered me to get support and encouragement around credit/budgeting issues; the match was great too! I learned so much in the Financial Literacy Class that I will use for a lifetime!
Would you recommend this program and why? Yes – it is a great learning experience! Kelly works with you to build on the positive; work toward your goals in a no blame, no shame environment.
