Micro Enterprise Story

Name:  Sara Doyle

Age:  40

Family Structure:  Husband Michael and three children: Erin 11, Maeve 8, Brendon 5.

Employment Status:  Part time for Centra Cas and Part time (co owner) of The Village Bean.

Describe your situation prior to enrolling in FAIM: I was working part time at St Benedict\s Senior Community as a Recreation Therapist.

Why did you sign up for FAIM? I saw the article in the St Cloud Times & immediately felt that this is the perfect opportunity for me to advance in my career; make decisions re: work/school with a time line; save & invest to make my goals happen.

How has FAIM helped you?   I have succeeded in opening & operating my coffeeshop with my partners; achieved a sense of accomplishment & self empowerment. Learned of financial savy and means and helped me to show my children what they can do if they want to.

Why did you pick Small Business?    My original plan was to go back to school to get a master’s degree, but a friend of mine asked if I would be interested in her coffee shop venture – I agreed & FAIM helped get me started.

What part of FAIM helped you most? The Financial Investment & matching monies – I would not have been able to do this venture without the matching monies.

Would you recommend this program and why?   I would and I have recommended this program to others in my same situation. It is a great way to help you accomplish your goals/dreams that may have not been an option otherwise.
